“We so appreciated the use of the Living Word Lutheran Church’s beautiful facilities for our annual event-allowing the “tourney to continue,” noted ESU #6 representative Sydney Bristol. “To schedule a Quiz Bowl or any event in the winter months can be tricky because of the weather, but we enjoyed a beautiful day with everyone happy to be together in friendly competition. It is wonderful to showcase our outstanding young adults, and we value the respectful gestures that the teams displayed to each other and the tournament leadership and volunteers a. It was a fun and educational experience, and we appreciated all who helped make the day a success.”
Donuts, juice and milk were compliments of the ESU #6 and preceded the tourney for all of the participants and a pizza lunch was furnished for the team coaches, drivers and judges during the noon hour break.
The winning teams each won an engraved “Loving Cup” trophy and engraved medals for everyone on the team.
In the morning each team participated in a round robin tourney-and was in competition at least three times against other schools to determine the seeding for the afternoon’s single elimination tourney. The general knowledge questions were centered around math, economics, science, social science, literature, geography and history. The questions were all computer generated and purchased in advance.
Readers/judges for the event included Sue Imig, Andrew Jensen, and Nancy Schulz-all from Seward, Nancy and Stan Meyer from Geneva, Kathleen Wilcox from Crete and Ellie Janda from Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. Riley Nuttleman served as the Quiz Master, coordinating the teams’ pairings and Clark Kolterman served as the Tourney Coordinator. Sydney Bristol is the ESU #6 representative/sponsor for the event.
