Natalie Wintz is Selected April Youth Rotarian by Seward Rotary Club

SHS Senior, Natalie Wintz, was selected as the April Youth Rotarian by the Seward Rotary Club and recognized and honored at the recent April 9th, 2025 Seward Rotary Club meeting held at the Auditorium of the Jones Bank in Seward.  She is the daughter of Dr. Keith and Nicki Wintz of Seward.

Natalie is a scholar and a leader in the SHS National Honor Society of Seward High.  She has a 4.0 grade point average and has enjoyed taking many Honor Classes and classes for Dual Credit at Seward High, in fact she has over 21 college credits because of her Duel Credit and Honors Classes.  She is a Seward High Ambassador and hosted many new students and families, as well as other events when called upon for student leadership.  She also enjoys being a Junior Jays Mentor at Seward Elementary School. 

Natalie is an athlete as well and lettered in Cross Country at SHS and also participated as a member of the Girls Golf team for two years.  She loves to swim and is currently a Lifeguard at the Seward Dowding Memorial Pool- and teaches swimming lessons at the pool.  She is certified in CPR, OPR, CAN and First Aid! 

She is very involved with school as well- and is an active member of the SHS Family, Community Career Leaders of America (FCCLA) all four years of high school -serving as a Chapter Officer.  She was State FCCLA Champion for FCCLA in Interior Design in 2023 and State Runner-up in Interior Design in 2024.

She is also a loyal member of the SHS Skills USA Chapter and competed and was named the State Champion in Cosmetology at the Skills USA State Competition in 2023 and she has been a member of the Opening and Closing Ceremony Skills USA Competition for the last three years -placing third at State each year.

Natalie loves music and has enjoyed piano lessons for over a decade.  She is a piano tutor for a local Fourth Grade student.  She also plays the piano for the Seward High School Show Choir -as a member of the Show Choir band.

She is member of the St. Vinent de Paul Catholic Church in Seward and active with her local St. Vincent de Paul Godparent group and has volunteered for many church activities over the years.  She is also a member of the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in Seward. 

Besides being a lifeguard in the summer, she has been employed as a detasseler for Sloup-Thorell Detasseling and also is a very busy babysitter when she has time. 

Her “Service Above Self” volunteer activities center around her high school club’s service projects, as well as her volunteer efforts with her church and as a tutor.  She also served as an Outdoor Education Counselor for the Seward Middle School.

She plans to attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and work towards a career in Dental Hygiene- and become a Dental Hygenist.

Natalie was introduced to the membership, and her resume was shared with the Rotarians. She was presented with some mementos of Rotary and Seward and the Seward Rotary Club banner for her graduation table.  She will be recognized again with the other Rotary Youth of the Month and is now a finalist for the Seward Youth Rotarian of the Year Award which is announced at SHS Honors Night.

The Seward Rotary Club honors one youth a month with the Youth Rotarian of the Month award and one more will be selected to be honored on May 7th, at the Seward Rotary Club meeting. Applications can be obtained at the Seward Counselor’s office.
