SHS Places Second and Third at Conference Quiz Bowl
The annual Central Conference Quiz Bowl was held on Wednesday, April 9th at the Living Word Lutheran Church in Seward, with Seward High School hosting the event.
It was a general knowledge quiz bowl and featured a “Round Robin” competition in the morning- serving as a “warm-up” event for the afternoon’s single elimination tournament.
The four winning teams each received a Quiz Bowl trophy and the first place team also won Conference Medals!
Seward High’s Team B placed Second or Runner-up -consisting of Emaline Janda, Izayah Lavicky, Liam Krahulik, Bethany Jurchen and Devon Kouma and the SHS Team A placed Third - Addie Slechta, Maddelyn Larson, Evelyn Theobald and Kayla Albright. Both teams are coached by Melissa Pohl- SHS English teacher.

Second - Seward High - Team B - Coach Melissa Pohl
Third - Seward High - Team A- Coach Melissa Pohl
Fourth - Adams Central - Team A- Coach- Jill Houghtelling
Readers for the contest included Nancy Schulz, Sue Imig, and Andy Jensen of Seward, Ellie Janda of Beaver Crossing and Kathy Wilcox of Crete.
Riley Nuttleman was the Quiz Master- organizer, Clark Kolterman served as the coordinator with Scott Curry serving as event AD! Questions were computer generated by Academic Hallmarks.
Schools participating in this tournament from the Central Conference included Schuyler, Adams Central, Seward, Aurora, York and Crete. There are nine schools in the Conference!
